Motorcycle MOT’s
SMC is a Class I & II station meaning we can test all motorbikes, motorcycles, scooters, customs, cruisers, off-road bikes and even some 3-wheelers (although not quad bikes or trikes, sorry).
All of our testers are bike enthusiasts themselves, and are full DVSA-approved Class I & II testers. This means that they have been in the motorcycle mechanics trade for a minimum of 4 years, attended a 3-day training course and passed an assessment and exam. They have then been assessed at their own testing station by a representative from DVSA. Once qualified, they are then required to undergo annual training and a yearly assessment.
We’re proud to have invested in brand-new state-of-the-art testing equipment, and will complete your MOT in around 30 minutes. We have an extremely spacious testing area, so your bike will be cared for as you would expect while we carry out the test. MOTs can be conducted whilst you wait, so feel free to take a seat in our comfortable waiting area. If that’s not your thing, there’s just time to nip to McDonald’s or Costa Coffee next door – don’t forget, all SMC customers get a 10% discount!
Motorcycle MOT’s only cost £29.65* and details of what is involved in this test can be found here.
Have any questions about your bike and the test? Just contact us – we don’t bite!! We can offer advice as to what is and isn’t acceptable.

What we test for
Testing motorcycles is no hidden mystery. We get customers worried that the test will ‘catch them out’ or that they have missed something. Everything we test is in the public domain and can be viewed online. If you are unsure on anything at all please just talk to us. We are here to help and, actually, do not like to fail bikes! If you want to see what is involved in the test then please follow this link.
